The food festivals of 2026 are afoot! So, this weekend we drove west to North York for our first-of-the-season. Now in its fourth year, Taste of North York has quickly evolved into a serious community & food festival. The annual event is held at the Mel Lastman Square, just north-west of Yonge Street and North York Boulevard. In its first year, the three-day festival already attracted 40,000 visitors, and I am pretty sure that number must have grown by now.

It’s our first time to this thing, and the promise of Chinese, Korean, Filipino, South American, Indian, Ukrainian, Japanese, Italian and Caribbean culture & cuisine was the obvious attraction, as well as an artisan street market.

There was live music, family fun-zones and a slew of neighbourhood organizations were present. The artisan market was a bit small, but the food was plentiful and delish (especially my spicy salmon nori taco) and it just smelled great everywhere.

We made sure to contribute a bit to some very awesome vendors as well as the non-profits there and will surely come back another year. We made it home just before the rain started! These are some snapshots from our visit.
