Ghost Busted

Time to read:

1–2 minutes

On the same day of the Whild Whitby ‘excursion’, Dracula Junior and myself went looking for a ‘ghost town’ in the Durham Region, but not as the end-destination of this trip. More like ‘would be great if we can pass through there, but we’ll stop wherever we see something interesting along the way’. Which was a good plan as the ghost town appeared to have gone up in a ghouly whaft of smoke.

Yashica Mat 124G and a roll of very expired Fuji Reala at the ready, we drove through the countryside and on unpaved roads, zig-zagging under the hot spring sun. It is a nice area to drive through, I must say. Many winding roads, steep cliffs, forested areas and wide open crop fields passed through the windscreen. I’m sure my car lost a bit of paint here and there, too. A great drive, then!

We didn’t set a target or subject for this photo walk, something I think I should give more thought the next time. These are some of the snapshots from that day:

We drove back down to the Pickering waterside for some Duck Confit Poutine afterwards because we’re bougie like that. Who said Canadia didn’t have any home-grown fancy cuisine, hm?
